26 Day Kanchenjunga Trek

Kanchenjunga is third biggest peak of the world. The Kanchenjunga is situated in the Eastern frontier between Nepal and India. It is 8586mt. high. This region was opened for trekking tourism only in 1988. The trekking in this area is relatively strenuous since the region is regarded as the most remote place of Nepal. However the presence of numerous wild animals, bird and flora in abundance make the trekking in this area very interesting and pleasantry enclose a number of glacier peaks. The Sherpas inhabit the northern part of the Kanchenjunga region whereas the southern lower part is full of the ethnic groups such as Rai, Limbus, Magars, Tamangs, Brahmans and Chhetris. The settlements of these ethnic groups are not so dense; they are rather scattered. They are also different in tradition and their ways of life.

This enchanting area offers the excellent display of flowering glory of rhododendrons, orchids, lilies, primula and many other flowers. The must-see place of this region is Kanchenjunga Conservation Area spread in an area of 2,035 square Kilometers. The area has a rich diversity of wildlife including snow leopard, Himalayan black bear, musk deer red panda and others. Impheyan, pheasant, red-billed blue mangpie, shy drongo are the major birds found here.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1Arrival at Tribhuban International Airport, pick up by our private vehicle, and transfer to the hotel. O/N Hotel.

Day 2Kathmandu sightseeing, including the Buddhist stupa of Boudhnath, Swyambhunath (Monkey Temple), and Patan Durbar Square, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. O/N Hotel.

Day 3Fly to Taplejung, trek to Mitlung (921 m) O/N Camp.

Day 4Trek to Chirwa (1,270 m) O/N Camp.

Day 5Trek Sekathum (1,660 m) O/N Camp.

Day 6Trek to Amjilossa (2,510 m) O/N Camp.

Day 7Trek to Gyabla (2,730 m) O/N Camp.

Day 8Trek to Ghunsa (3,595 m) O/N Camp.

Day 9Trek to Kambachen (4,100 m) O/N Camp.

Day 10Acclimatization and rest day at Kambachen (4,100 m) O/N Camp.
